Merle Nelson Mason Jr.

Please keep the family and friends of Merle Nelson Mason Jr. in your thoughts and prayers. Merle was 85 years of age, a lifelong resident of Hazelwood and entered the arms of the Lord on July 7th, 2024. Merle was born in Pittsburgh, PA on January 19th, 1939 to the late Merle Nelson Mason Sr. and Lillian Frances Hartung Mason. 

Merle is survived by his daughter Colleen Mason and son Merle Nelson Mason III. Merle is also survived by his two granddaughters Heather Mason and Amanda Kancso and her children Giselle, Latalia, Zahara, and Noah. 

Merle was well known throughout Hazelwood and worked as a crane operator for LTV Steel. He was a member of Hazelwood Christian Church, as well as the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum. 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 10th, 2024, from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm at Vereb Funeral Home (formerly O’Conner’s), 5106 Second Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15207.
