Please keep the family and friends of Melvin K. Brandstetter in your thoughts and prayers. Melvin was 80 years of age, resided in Irwin, Pennsylvania, and peacefully passed away on June 23rd, 2024. Melvin was born in Greensburg on June 1st, 1944, to the late Anthony Brandstetter and Mildred Znidarsic Brandstetter. He was the beloved husband to the late Nancy Shaffer Brandstetter. Melvin is survived by his son Aaron Brandstetter of Morgantown, Aaron's fiance Leslie Claypoole, his daughter Sherry (Mike) Lackey of Yukon, and his daughter Melissa Brandstetter or West Chester. He is also survived by his grandchildren Dakotah (MacKenzie Johnson) Lackey, Kaleb Lackey, Cooper Lackey, Jackson Brandstetter, and Mason Scott. He is preceeded in death by his brother Anthony P. Brandstetter. Melvin served in the U.S. Army at Ft. Wainwright, Alaska, a battery 2nd battalion 562nd artillery. He was a retired boilermaker for U.S. Steel, Clairton Works, and a member of U.S.W. local 1557, as well as a life member of Yukon V.F.D. He was a member of St. Marks Lutheran Church in Arona. Melvin was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by his family and many friends. No calling hours are planned, but a memorial service will be held at a later date.
