Lizzie Mae Topeck

February 14, 1937 — September 10, 2022

Please keep the family and friends of Lizzie Mae Topeck in your thoughts and prayers. Lizzie Mae Topeck was born on February 14, 1937 to the late Charles & Lizzie Daniels. She attended EE Smith High school. She met and married Howard (Buddy) Topeck and moved to Pittsburgh. She attended Community college and worked as a nurse for The Jewish Home and then for Children's Hospital for over 40 years before retiring in 1994.


Lizzie loved the Lord and was baptized at an early age. She was a devoted member of Macedonia Baptist church for over 27 years and loved attending when she was able. She also enjoyed working with the Senior ministry. She was a member of several organizations and would organize trips to places like Atlantic City. She was one of the original Oaklander Marching Corp mothers. Everyone called her MOM. She was honored in 2021 at the Frazier Street reunion.


She loved spending time with her family. She loved watching church and Bible study online with her kids. Watching TD Jakes with Rocky. She loved watching basketball and football games and talking trash with her son in law, Dexter. While able to travel, she just loved traveling to Myrtle Beach, California and Colorado.


Lizzie and Topeck as she affectionately called him were married for 69 years. Lizzie is preceded in death by her mother and father, Lizzie & Charles Daniels, her son, Clarence (Speedy) Topeck. Her brothers, Mack Daniels and Charles Daniels, her Aunt Mary Hursey, Uncle Duncan McMillan, and her granddaughter, Ashley R. Turk.


She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Horace (Rocky) Topeck (Regina) of Pittsburgh, Wanda Topeck of Pittsburgh, Lydia Topeck-Burwell of Denver, Colorado and Rachel Topeck-Turk (Dexter) of Aurora, Colorado.

Her grandchildren, Jaydon Burwell, Tonya Culliton, Horace (Lil Rock) Topeck, Amanda Topeck-Banks (Aaron) Asia Topeck, Tyler, Terrell and Travis Burwell, Ryan Turk and Doctor Robby Turk.X V


Her great grandchildren, Ethan, Eva, Derrick, Gregory, Ali, Amani, King, Aaron, Alajah, Alaya, Jaelyn, TJ, Zaden, Kassidy, Caydance, Jaden, Malia, Dorian and RJ. Mom, Lizzie, Mae, Lizzie Mae, Aunt Mae, Grandma, GG will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 19, 2022 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 2001 Wiley Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15219. Visitation will be 10 AM to 12 PM. Service immediately follows at 12 PM. Interment will be in the Homewood Cemetery.
