Katherine P. (“Kate”) Lydon

March 1, 1937 — January 5, 2017

passed away on January 5, 2017, in Marietta Georgia, where she had recently moved with her loving niece Ann and husband Jim. Born March 1, 1937, Kate grew up in the Hazelwood section of Pittsburgh and was living in Lincoln Place before she moved south.

Daughter of the late Michael and Anne (Bullistron) Lydon

Beloved Sister of Margie (Lydon) Farmer, and brother-in-law Joe (Ann) Wagner.

Kate is preceeded in death by her siblings-spouses Mike and Irma Lydon, Mary (Lydon) and Sonny Woods, Ann (Lydon) Wagner, John (Mole) Lydon, Eddie Lydon, and Marty and Jo Ann Lydon.

Fiercely independent (you could say stubborn) Kate lived a full and active life until chronic conditions limited her ability to get around, but with telephones, networks of friends and Starbucks gift cards, she made her presence felt until the end. Besides her dear old friends from Hazelwood, new ones from Lincoln Place, and tons of surviving and deceased loving nieces and nephews to whom she was like a big sister, Kate made deep and lifelong friends and memories at WTAE-TV, where she retired as Traffic Manager after 41 years.

There will be visitation and a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, March 11, 2017, from 11 AM until 1 PM when a Celebration of Life Service will be held at John D. O’Connor & Son Funeral Home, 5106 Second Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA, 15207. Patrick Vereb, F.D. Supervisor 412-521-8116
