Puzio, Joseph passed away peacefully at his home after a long illness on October 10, 2013. His wife and his sister were at his side. He is reunited with his beloved daughter Melissa now in heaven. Joe and his wife were college sweethearts and were married for 45 years. Joe, Martha, and Melissa enjoyed traveling together throughout the US, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. Joe graduated from Slippery Rock University and earned his Graduate Degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He worked for 33 years for the Pittsburgh Board of Education. First as a teacher at the Burgwin School and Retired as Principal from Dillworth Traditional Academy. Joe loved his students and was always stopped by former students and asked if he remembered them. They would tell him how he made a difference in their lives and that they appreciated everything he taught them.
His devotion to his family was his highest priority. He is survived by his wife: Martha Torick Puzio and is reunited with his recently departed lovely daughter: Melissa. Brother of Mary Lou Dorsogna, and Tom [Diane] Puzio, Brother-in-law of Lillian Neff. His Nieces and Nephews include: Mary Ellen Fink, Sara Fink, David [Cathy] Neff, Meghan Puzio, John Puzio, Stacey Newitt, Christine Neff, and Kelly Danolovics. Predeceased by:
His Parents: Charles and Mary Puzio; his daughter: Melissa Jo and his nephews: James Neff and Daniel Puzio.
Friends received Monday 10 AM until a Blessing Service at 11:30 AM at the John D. O’Connor and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 5106 Second Avenue, 15207, 412-521-8116 Rev. Neil McCaulley officiating. Interment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery.
