The Life and Legacy of Brenda Darnell Parks: A Shining Light in Our Lives  

Brenda Darnell Parks, 74, of Natrona Heights, PA, peacefully slipped away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at the Platinum Ridge Center for Rehabilitation & Healing in Natrona Heights. Born on June 22, 1950, to Earl and Elizabeth Parks, Brenda was one of 16 siblings—a big, loving family that shaped her warm heart and generous spirit. Growing up in Pittsburgh, Brenda graduated from South Hills High School (Class of 1969) and found her calling in various roles: a medical transcriptionist, clerical typist for an insurance company, and later working in Sears' Catalog Department. Her passion for helping others shine through when she volunteered at the Community Library of Allegheny County in Natrona Heights, greeting everyone with a smile and a helping hand. In the early 1970s, Brenda's journey led her to Detroit, MI—Motown's legendary home—where she welcomed her beloved daughter, Katrina Denise Parks, on August 11, 1973. Though the Motor City held many memorable chapters, she returned to Pittsburgh to be near her father, ultimately settling in Natrona Heights in the summer of 1989.  Brenda had a gift for lighting up a room with her smile and infectious laughter. She cherished her family, good food, and heartfelt conversations. As a master storyteller, she believed that laughter could carry one through even the toughest times. Her favorite saying, "You have to laugh to keep from crying," reflected her unwavering resilience, faith, and joy. Brenda, a gifted seamstress, creating beautiful pieces like a prom dress for a neighborhood teenager and clothes for Katrina. New mothers in her circle treasured the personalized baby blankets she crafted with love, each stitch infused with a tender expression of her beautiful heart. Brenda is survived by her beloved daughter, Katrina, and her siblings Shirley Johnson, Kenneth Parks, Alfred Parks, Richard Parks, Randolph Parks, Yvonne Parks, Elizabeth Parks, Ellsworth Parks, and Tyrone Parks, as well as countless nieces and nephews who adored her. Arrangements entrusted to Vereb Funeral Home, (formerly Krynicki’s), 1007 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA, 15065, 412-895-3433. Visitation with the family will be Saturday, March 15, 2024 1PM until 3 PM. The Service Celebrating her Life will be 3 PM until 5 PM.
