Dawn Marie Fanty

April 14, 1964 — April 24, 2022

Please keep the family and friends of Dawn Marie Fanty in your hearts and prayers. Dawn was 58 years of age, lived in Penn Hills and passed peacefully on Sunday, April 24, 2022, after an incredibly courageous battle with lung cancer. She graduated from Montour High School in 1982 and went on to Duquesne University to study Criminal Justice. Dawn can be best described as one of kind. She was kind- hearted, genuine and always tried to find the good in everyone. She was fiercely loyal, but never afraid to say what she was thinking. She loved with all of her heart. If you were lucky enough to call her friend, you knew you could count on her for anything. Dawn had strong opinions and never backed down from a debate, but she was always willing to see the other side, even when she didn’t agree with it. She believed in family first and was protective of her clan. She would do anything to make you laugh.

Dawn was an avid pool player, who became the business owner of Three Rivers Tap League, where she travelled around the country for tournaments, making many friends everywhere she went. She had a strong Christian faith and throughout her battle, she remained faithful in God’s plan.

Words cannot describe the pain of losing such a beautiful daughter, sister, wife, aunt and friend; but we know that she is already reunited with our dad (David T. Hays); our brother (David E Hays); our nephew (Brandon M Hays); and many others. And we are certain there is no more pain.

Dawn is survived by her husband of 30 years, Anthony Fanty; mother, Cecelia Bowser (Doug); sisters, Irene Hays (Kim) and Shannon Hays-Gruss (Ron); brother in law, Joseph Fanty; nephew Joshua Hays; nieces Jaylene Gregurich and Lexi Gruss; great nephews, Damien Hays and Brandon Hays; great niece, Arya Hays, and best friend, Brandi Jones Balzo (Jose).
At Dawn’s request, there will be no visitation. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements entrusted to Patrick Vereb, F.D., John D. O’Connor and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 5106 Second Avenue, 15207, 412-521-8116
